Monkeys

Tell me Sarina, why do monkeys have long tails?

Grasping objects, swinging from trees and to jump,

To make hand free, they use trails.

Catching  branches  they climb  trees  to  safety,

It is fun to observe their play, it is a splendid  art.

Elephants

Smart, smart, let us go to  the next  animal

Why do elephants have  long  trunks?

I like to take shower, on warm days,  elephants do too,

In heavy body, trunk  is the only protection tool,

Trunk is a hand,  trunk is their nose, trunk is everything.

Leopards

Oh smarty, you are smart, let us move on

Why do Leopards have spots on skin?

In leafy forests, spots help Leopards hide to catch food.

Well, predators always want to kill weaker animals 

Giraffe

Smart, smart,  you are the best, let us move on.

Why do the Giraffes have long necks? 

With long neck they reach nourishing leaves 

Lucky Giraffe can eat fresh  leaves,

Long neck is a perfect adaptation to the animal's natural habitat.  

Reindeers

Why do  Reindeers have  big branched  horns?

No,  they  are the Antlers and  not  the  horns,

They are the hearing  aid  to detect  enemies ,

Antlers  remained fighting aid and to attract  others,

But in dense forest Antlers restrict movements  too,

Every year they  get new Antlers.

Anteaters

Anteaters  are the wonder of the world, born  to surprise us.

What do you know about Anteaters?

Anteaters have tube-shaped mouth, no teeth.

They have two feet long thin sticky  tongue.

They suck on food.

What is the function of sticky tongue?

It helps them to catch hold of ants and termites.

Tongue  flicked up to 150 times every minute.

Eat up to a maximum of 30,000 insects in a day.

Poor eyesight and hearing, but strong sense of smell.

They have moist nose, like a dog's nose.

Their powerful legs and long claws to fight predators.

Long dense fur protects them from attacks of the insects.

Starfish

-What are the characteristics features of  Starfish?

Starfish or  Sea star,  they are not  fish,

They  have four or five arms but  some have twelve,

Most beautiful on the earth, a variety of colors and  shapes,

They are brainless, bloodless  and boneless,

Without brain they survived  too long (450 millions year).

They move  using hundreds of tube feet,

They have eye spot in each arm, but sense light and  dark,

They regenerate arm,  regenerate whole body if chopped into pieces ,

They eat clams, mollusk and decomposing plants.

- You are  5 to 10 inch long but weigh up to 11lbs .Starfish have no bones instead they have articulated skeletal bone system comprised of a sequence of tubes that changes water pressure to enable it move well. (internal anatomy  of starfish is compiled in next figure).

Kangaroos

What are the  uniqueness in Kangaroo?

Kangaroo  have  a strong backbone, powerful hind legs,

Their  one hop is of 30 feet, and travelling speed is 40 miles per hour

They do not require fancy or costly roads,

No animal can travel  so fast,  need  special  feet,

Elongate feet and short forelegs , unable to walk backwards

Kangaroo is National symbol of Australia ,

Just move forward, never  backward,

An external pouch to carry baby, ( for details see next figure),

Ears are sensitive, it  can be twisted in any direction,

And their strong muscular tail, acts as a leg.

Can produce  different types of  milks for babies,

Can keep healthy both young and old babies.

 

Note: The average weight falls between 40 and 200 lbs.

Ostriches

Great answer let us move for the last one,

Why do Ostriches bury their heads in the sand?

La la, they are not hiding but are making a nest for eggs,

With their beak they dig a hole in the sand for a nest.
