In this century sustainability of marriage is under attack and became a global issue.

Abstract:  This article on marriage is basically made for the purpose education of my kids and grand kids.

Family is the fundamental building block of all human civilizations, and marriage is the foundation of the family. In past marriage was regarded as natural and fundamental to humanity – essential to a flourishing civilization. Families are created and held together by the lifelong commitment of a man and a woman who live cooperatively and raise and nurture the children born to them. In this century sustainability of marriage is under attack and became a global issue.  Bonds between couples are very fragile which led to stability problem of families; marriage is in a state of crisis. In this situation, children are becoming victims and become devoid of parent’s love. A major challenge of modern society is to find out suitable solution of marriage issue. In this article I have tried to compile global opinions of well known people from open literature, views on ideas of solving, definition of marriage, teaching of Bible, Hindu marriage tradition,  some proverbs, quotes, etc.

Definition of Marriage.

“In any relationship, there will be frightening spells in which your feelings of love dry up. And when that happens you must remember that the essence of marriage is that it is a covenant, a commitment, a promise of future love. So what do you do? You do the acts of love, despite your lack of feeling. You may not feel tender, sympathetic, and eager to please, but in your actions you must BE tender, understanding, forgiving and helpful. And, if you do that, as time goes on you will not only get through the dry spells, but they will become less frequent and deep, and you will become more constant in your feelings. This is what can happen if you decide to love.”
― Timothy Keller, The Meaning of Marriage: Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God

Marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.  It is the foundation of the family and an inviolable social institution whose nature, consequences, and incidents are governed by law and not subject to stipulation, except that marriage settlements may fix the property relations during the marriage within the limits provided by this Code.

Marriages in Hinduism:

Hindu Marriage joins two individuals for life, so that they can pursue dharma (duty), artha (possessions), kama (physical desires), and moksha (ultimate spiritual release) together. It is a union of two individuals as husband and wife, and is recognized by law. In Hinduism, marriage is followed by traditional rituals for consummation. It also joins two families together. There are eight types of marriage.

Historically the vedic marriage was the few different types of Hindu marriage customs. Love marriage was also seen in historical Hindu literature and has been variously described by many names, such as Gandharva vivaha. Many people believe that arranged marriage is the traditional form of marriage in India; however love marriage is a modern form, usually in urban areas. Love marriage differs from arranged marriage in that the couple, rather than the parents, chooses their own partner.

These seven vows are known as Saptadi, which are performed along with Mangalpheras, which is revolving around the sacred fire. Any marriage is incomplete without these vows and is deemed complete once they are conducted. On the day of the wedding the bride and the groom sit under the Mandap or the scared canopy for this ritual. The bride is seated towards left of the groom before the pheras( Vows) , while towards the right after they are complete.

The Seven Vows: During Vows  couples give promises to each other and pray for  peace and happiness of  the world. Hence Hindu culture consider world as a family.

Groom:
You will offer me food and be helpful in every way. I will cherish you and provide welfare and happiness for you and our children.
Bride:
I am responsible for the home and all household responsibilities.

Groom:
Together we will protect our house and children.
Bride:
I will be by your side as your courage and strength. I will rejoice in your happiness. In return, you will love me solely.

Groom:
May we grow wealthy and prosperous and strive for the education of our children. May our children live long.
Bride:
I will love you solely for the rest of my life, as you are my husband. Every other man in my life will be secondary. I vow to remain chaste.

Groom:
You have brought sacredness into my life, and have completed me. May we be blessed with noble and obedient children.
Bride:
I will shower you with joy, from head to toe. I will strive to please you in every way I can.

Groom: You are my best friend, and staunchest well-wisher. You have come into my life, enriching it. God bless you.
Bride:
I promise to love and cherish you for as long as I live. Your happiness is my happiness, and your sorrow is my sorrow. I will trust and honor you, and will strive to fulfill all your wishes.

Groom:
May you be filled with joy and peace.
Bride:
I will always be by your side.

Groom:
We are now husband and wife, and are one. You are mine and I am yours for eternity.
Bride:
As God is witness, I am now your wife. We will love, honor and cherish each other forever

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Enjoy the life, enjoy the life, life is short

Enjoy the life, enjoy the life, life is short
Don’t expect, wealth to bring you real joy

Enjoy the life, enjoy the life, this life is short
Enjoy it to the fullest; make it your main goal
Never ever expect, wealth to bring you real joy
You are the only boss; you make your destiny

You are the born rich, richest entity of the world
All the living species are the miracle machines
For the most of creatures, there is no living cost
Creatures provide us help, joy and nourishment

Be cheerful, mighty creator resides in you, in all
Every moment, almighty looks with  five senses
Creator worries for you, he loves his all creatures
Open your eyes an’ look at  colorful surrounding

Look colorful clouds at the sun set and sun rise
In night, see beauty display by moon and  stars
Colorful birds, insects and animals are eye candy
And the songs of birds quench thirst of our ears

God has given you the power to change yourself
To enjoy this life you have infinite opportunities
Set a goal, dream on it, and be persistent in work
Look achievements of mankind, everything doable

Candle of selfishness resides in all  human hearts
Remove greed, your hearts will shine up like Sun
Hearts will fill up with mercy an’ love for everyone
Your heart will flourish with the joy and happiness

O’ lucky; tell me, what else you need for happiness?
No reason to be sadder, learn to surmount barriers
Without despair to hope, without misery to happiness
Enjoy this life, it is a gift, wise never loose a chance

Innovation, an Essential Attribute Required In Globalized World-Part-1:

Innovation, an Essential Attribute Required In Globalized World-Part-1:
Quality Required for Students and Professionals of All disciplines

Ramesh M. Gohil

Introduction:

In the world of globalization, our students, professionals and industrial scientists, engineers have started facing many challenges for jobs and product competitions, hence problems created for financial situation.  To cope with this type of situation, extra burden will be imposed on students, parents, schools, teachers and existing social systems or government.  Such situation will soon demand reform in our education system. In this direction China is moving very fast and reports suggest that many developing countries lack in this endeavor. We require innovation in every walk of life and to create culture which value, support innovation (creativity) and develop a network and mechanism for immediate implementation.

Innovation is not new and with this attribute we benefited from Stone Age. Our comforts, long life, quality of life, rapid knowledge acquiring techniques, etc. are mainly attributed to innovation and hard work   of innovative individuals.
With time, our  problems have changed ; new demands we are facing  in the areas of environments, energy sectors, medicines for new type of diseases, agriculture to resolve food demands, development of  efficient management systems, etc. Innovations in these complex areas require very specific education and skills. Hence in present days we are facing acute problems which impose many challenges on us.
I am going to present series of documents under heading of “Innovation” to cover followings:

a.     Concept of  innovation and  their applications.

b.     Type of innovation observed in nature (in animals, birds, and other creatures) and how directly or indirectly helped us.  How concept of zero, wheels, etc. may have developed.

c.      Beauty of derived innovations, how mother nature could be so delightful- how imaginary innovation  help  business.

d.     Why innovation became complex and became hard to handle for layman?

Normally the term innovation can be defined as something original resulting from  our  out of box thinking and, as consequence, new, better solutions than one existed,   that "breaks in to" the market , technologies,  processes, remove services,  products , processes, technologies, government and society.

An innovative work in a field if applied to totally another field brings great value to our society.  In Stone Age observations of tricks manifested in birds, animals, insects, etc brought great advancement in our society.

Section-1:  Paintings  made  in  18th Century  from observations of  animal’s  activities  inspired  innovative persons to find  applications  in  recently developed  technologies. Work in this area has made huge business.

A.    Monkeys forming a chain from overhanging branch (mamamirabelle) .

Picture of  monkeys forming a chain from overhanging branch in order to tease a crocodile.  This picture was made by  Bocourt from   a sketch made by Mouhot  , who explored      forests of  Siams, Laos and Lambodia  in 18th century and found many new  species of fishes, mammals, reptiles. Several  people have claimed  that they  observed   much innovative team behavior of monkeys  and forming chain.  True or not,  such innovative picture  could start a new  business  for amusement of  children (see http://littlekids.nationalgeographic.com/littlekids/mamamirabelle/).

Above picture  was  taken from the book of  “ Great Explorer” by Roderick  Owen, Mayflower Book, New York, 1979.    Team Traveled in the central parts of Indo-China (Siam), Cambodia, and Laos : during the years 1858, 1859 and 1860 .

a.     “The Myth of the Monkey Chain- unusual way of crossing rivers. ”

Fig. 2

Above  picture (Fig. 2) shows long-tailed, South American monkeys have an unusual way of crossing rivers. Clinging (holding together) to each other, they form their bodies into a living bridge that stretches between the trees on either side of a river. Other members of the pack then climb across this 'monkey chain' to reach the other side.

South American monkeys form living bridges in order to cross alligator-infested rivers the idea is curiously long-lived. Jesuit priest José de Acosta published the first account in Latin in 1589 — here’s a 1604 translation:

“Going from Nombre de Dios to Panama, I did see in Capira one of these monkeys leaped from one tree to another, which was on the other side of a river, making me much to wonder…..” .

Section-2:  Invention of Alphabets on wings of Butterfly

This example provides how the curiosity and persistence in work   achieve a goal of a man which no one would have undertaken.  From this work, Kjell  Sandved made millions of dollars.

History:

Back in 1960, a young Norwegian called Kjell  Sandved came to the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History to conduct research on animal behavior.  One day, Kjell found, inside an old cigar box, a butterfly that had a perfect letter 'F' on its wing. He was so impressed and  spent  much of his life (24 yrs) travelling the world, discovering  all 26  'letters'  of English alphabet and numbers  in nature, for example on the wings of butterflies.

Fig. 9

Detailed View of the alphabets on Butterfly Wings-Is it  Innovation?

Fig.10

From  this  innovative findings (Figs. 9-  11),  Kjell  Sandved ,  started  a  business   of selling  calendars  of alphabets pictures  (shown above) and made money. Several books are written on this topic.

In this story,  Kjell  observed  a  letter “F”  on  a  wing of  butterfly.  His persistent work   showed us that   letters are  in  nature; pictures we see may be illusion but  emerging shapes are  comparable with alphabets.  Starting a business  reflects  its business  value.  This is an  innovation as this discovery is original and new that "breaks in to" the market or into society”.  Note that Newton's law of universal gravitation came in existence when  Newton observed  falling of  apple  from a tree.
